Dear Environment Agency,

How many persons (including groups of persons) - (Ignoring my own such indication) -have since the publishing of E.A Guidance: "Geological Disposal Facilities on Land for Solid Radioactive Wastes" (2009) indicated their intention to, or have begun, the process of "staged Authorisation" as described in the published guidance? NCCC National Requests, Environment Agency

1 Attachment

Dear Mr Lee,

Your request NR29966.

Thank you for your enquiry which was received on November 11 2016.

We respond to requests under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and
Environmental Information Regulations 2004.

The only organisation that has indicated that it might, in the future,
wish to start a process of staged regulation is [1]Radioactive Waste
Management Limited (RWM).   RWM is the delivery organisation for
geological disposal.  No other person or groups of persons have indicated
any intention to start the process of staged regulation.  Staged
regulation applies only to development of facilities that may be used
wholly or substantially for underground disposal of radioactive waste, for
example, a geological disposal facility.

Please get in touch if you have any further queries or contact us within
two months if you’d like us to review the information we have sent.

Regards
