Generally Information

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Sacred Heart Catholic College, Crosby, Liverpool should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Sacred Heart Catholic College, Crosby, Liverpool,

I would like to know if it is true that every single member of staff employed in the school gets a pay rise every year? I understand that individuals cannot be identified in any way but I would like this clarifying. By every member of staff, I mean teachers, directors, office staff, teaching assistants, cleaners, dinner ladies and anybody else who works in the school on a permanent basis. If only certain staff have a pay rise each year, how can this be justified or even fair?

I have read other requests by other people and I am interested to know why, according to governing body minutes that the Head teacher has asked for a loan from Sefton Council? It appears that there are a high number of "Directors" for the school. What do their roles entail? Can you confirm or deny that the more directors of departments there are, the higher the head teachers pay? Surely if money needs to be saved, it makes sense to cut the wages bill by reducing the number of these posts?

The Head teacher does not teach any lessons (as has been clarified by a request made a few years ago by somebody else), he appears to delegate work to others, what does he actually do to justify a salary of more than £150,000? (if rumours round Crosby are to be believed) is it true he stays
in his office all day and leaves the running of the school to others?

Does the school actually enforce a behaviour policy? Are records kept about how many children misbehave and if sanctions are ever applied to them?

Does the school have a policy for the LGBT members of staff and students? If not, why not?

Why does the school have different holidays to it's feeder schools? I was under the impression that the standardised school year was introduced to enable parents and staff with children in the feeder primaries eliminate problems of childcare caused by different holiday dates.

Yours faithfully,

Helen Sloane

Dear langtons,

You haven't answered some of my questions specifically enough, but have hidden behind a statement saying that some information is opinion and not fact.

The FACT is that Great Crosby RC Primary school has a difference of a week over the Easter holidays. They also had a different return date after Christmas. This is not opinion, it is FACT. The evidence to prove this FACT can quite clearly be seen on both their website, and also that of Sacred Heart Catholic College. Please can you explain why Sacred Heart Catholic College chooses to have different holiday dates to that of it's main feeder school?

Also hiding behind the same stance of a "matter of opinion and not fact" is not good enough. It is FACT that the Head teacher, Senior management and teachers get an annual pay rise. I have seen evidence of this, since submitting my request. Why don't ALL members of staff, ie Office Staff, Teaching Assistants, Cleaners and Dinner Ladies get an annual pay rise too? No school could function without the non teaching staff. Why are they discriminated against?

It is also a FACT that senior management cost more. The FACT that you are unwilling to give a breakdown of what the roles of "Directors" entail, speaks volumes. It is also a FACT that for one "Director" at least 3 or 4 extra Teaching Assistants could be employed. This would provide far better value for money. Especially as the Head Teacher does not or cannot teach.

With reference to my question regarding LGBT pupils and staff, is there a designated area for these children to get changed in PE? Especially for those who may be wanting to transition?

Yours sincerely,

Helen Sloane
