Dear St John's College, Cambridge,

I am writing to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for information relating to your employment practices. I would like to know the following:

- As of April 5th 2020, the mean hourly wage of female workers (employees or casual workers) in the college in non-academic/administrative positions who are over the age of 18.

- As of April 5th 2020, the mean hourly wage of male workers (employees or casual workers) in the college in non-academic/administrative positions who are over the age of 18.

- As of April 5th 2020, the number of non-academic/administrative staff on these types of contracts broken down by gender:
a. full time and part time,
b. fix-term,
c. zero hour,
d. agency staff,

- As of April 5th 2020, the College’s provision of child support for non-academic staff including (but not limited to) things such as childcare, creche, link nursery school places, childcare vouchers etc.

- As of April 5th 2020, the percentage of non-academic/administrative staff who are British citizens; EU/EEA citizens; and non-British and non-EU/EEA citizens.

- As of April 5th 2020, the mean hourly wage of workers (employees or casual workers) in the college in non-academic/administrative positions who are over the age of 18, and are
a. British citizens;
b. EU/EEA citizens;
c. non-British and non-EU/EEA citizens.

- As of April 5th 2020, the breakdown of (1) British citizens, (2) EU/EEA citizens, and (3) non-British and non-EU/EEA citizens who are non-academic/administrative staff on these types of contracts:
a. full time and part time,
b. fix-term,
c. zero hour,
d. agency staff,

Dear Ilja Caikovksis,

Further to my email of 22nd June I am writing to request clarification of
the information which you require.

We don’t record citizenship in the way you describe, nor do we hold the
requested gender data for agency workers.  Please can you confirm that
you're happy to confine your request to the following:

- As of April 5th 2020, the mean hourly wage of female workers (employees
or casual workers) in the college in non-academic/administrative positions
who are over the age of 18.

- As of April 5th 2020, the mean hourly wage of male workers (employees or
casual workers) in the college in non-academic/administrative positions
who are over the age of 18.

- As of April 5th 2020, the number of non-academic/administrative staff on
these types of contracts broken down by gender:

a. full time and part time,

b. fix-term,

c. zero hour,

- As of April 5th 2020, the College’s provision of child support for
non-academic staff including (but not limited to) things such as
childcare, creche, link nursery school places, childcare vouchers etc.

As clarification has been requested, under s.1(3) of the Freedom of
Information Act, the 20 working day period to respond will now not start
until we have received clarification. Please note that unless we receive
clarification within 2 months, the request will be considered closed.

If you are dissatisfied with my response you may seek an internal review
in writing setting out the grounds for review. It will be dealt with by a
College Officer. Should you not be satisfied with the outcome of the
review, you will have a right of appeal to the Information Commissioner by
writing to him at Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water
Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.

Thank you for your refined Freedom of Information request concerning the
wages and benefits of non-academic/administrative staff at St John’s
College (the ‘College’). I hope that you find the following information
useful, for ease of reference my answers are in blue.
 
1) As of April 5th 2020, the mean hourly wage of female workers (employees
or casual workers) in the College in non-academic/administrative positions
who are over the age of 18.
 
£14.35.
 
2) As of April 5th 2020, the mean hourly wage of male workers (employees
or casual workers) in the College in non-academic/administrative positions
who are over the age of 18.
 
£13.98.
 
3) As of April 5th 2020, the number of non-academic/administrative staff
on these types of contracts broken down by gender:
 
a) full time and part time
 

* 102 full time female non-academic/administrative staff;
* 69 full time male non-academic/administrative staff;
* 71 part time female non-academic/administrative staff; and
* 22 part time male non-academic/administrative staff.

 
b) fix-term
 

* 4 female non-academic/administrative staff on fixed-term contracts;
and
* 12 male non-academic/administrative staff on fixed-term contracts.

 
c) zero hour,
 

* 19 female non-academic/administrative staff on zero hour contracts;
and
