Dear Homerton College, Cambridge,

I am writing to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for information relating to your employment practices. I would like to know the following:

- As of April 5th 2020, the mean hourly wage of female workers (employees or casual workers) in the college in non-academic/administrative positions who are over the age of 18.

- As of April 5th 2020, the mean hourly wage of male workers (employees or casual workers) in the college in non-academic/administrative positions who are over the age of 18.

- As of April 5th 2020, the number of non-academic/administrative staff on these types of contracts broken down by gender:
a. full time and part time,
b. fix-term,
c. zero hour,
d. agency staff,

- As of April 5th 2020, the College’s provision of child support for non-academic staff including (but not limited to) things such as childcare, creche, link nursery school places, childcare vouchers etc.

- As of April 5th 2020, the percentage of non-academic/administrative staff who are British citizens; EU/EEA citizens; and non-British and non-EU/EEA citizens.

- As of April 5th 2020, the mean hourly wage of workers (employees or casual workers) in the college in non-academic/administrative positions who are over the age of 18, and are
a. British citizens;
b. EU/EEA citizens;
c. non-British and non-EU/EEA citizens.

- As of April 5th 2020, the breakdown of (1) British citizens, (2) EU/EEA citizens, and (3) non-British and non-EU/EEA citizens who are non-academic/administrative staff on these types of contracts:
a. full time and part time,
b. fix-term,
c. zero hour,
d. agency staff,

I'm writing in regards to the 'Gender and Migrant Pay Gap' request sent to you on the 21st June 2021, which was made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. As per the law, you should have responded to our request by the 20th July 2021, however, we have received no such reply. Since the statutory deadline has passed, we are within our rights to refer Homerton College to the Information Commissioner. However, we are willing to give you additional time to respond. If we do not hear back from you by the beginning of next week (26th July 2021), we will begin the process of referring the college to the Information Commissioner. My response to her is below:
Further to your recent Freedom of Information request please see below the data from Homerton College.

Please be aware that the "hourly wage" figure is calculated using annual salary data and contracted hours of work.
We have made assumptions regarding the nature of work being of a non-academic/administrative nature.
We have not provided data relating to citizenship as this is not recorded digitially and would take considerable time to access the data from paper personnel records (189 records x 3 minutes each =9 hours plus additional processing and recording time.

- As of April 5th 2020, the mean hourly wage of female workers (employees or casual workers) in the college in non-academic/administrative positions who are over the age of 18.
Mean Hourly Wage is £11.32

- As of April 5th 2020, the mean hourly wage of male workers (employees or casual workers) in the college in non-academic/administrative positions who are over the age of 18.
Mean Hourly wage is £12.77

- As of April 5th 2020, the number of non-academic/administrative staff on these types of contracts broken down by gender:

Citizenship information is not recorded digitally and would require a significant work to identify the status of each employee from personnel records and to record it in a way that such information requested below could be calculated.

a. British citizens;

b. EU/EEA citizens;

c. non-British and non-EU/EEA citizens.

If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your request and wish to make a complaint or request an internal review of this decision, you should contact us at the address below. If you are not content with the outcome of your review, you may apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. Generally, the Information Commissioner cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints procedure provided by the College.
