GDPR compliance processing staff performance

We're waiting for David Alder to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Personal staff performance data is currently being shared internally with their peers in some offices against the consent of staff involved. Data shared allows individuals to be identified and their performance to be viewed by peers. This practice happens across a range of channels, including team email distributions, whiteboard 'scorecards' and noticeboards. Local managers in some areas appear to indicate this is to drive competition between staff, address imbalances between home and office workers, to identify individual performance variation, or be used as a precursor to formal performance action.

Please confirm if the processing of personal performance data in this manner is considered GDPR compliant and if shared personal performance monitoring between peers without individual consent is a current condoned practice.

Yours faithfully,

David Alder
