GDF "Site A" and "Site B" under investigation by RWM.

Darryl J Lee (Mr.) made this Freedom of Information request to Radioactive Waste Management Limited

This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

Radioactive Waste Management Limited did not have the information requested.

Darryl J Lee (Mr.)

Dear Radioactive Waste Management Limited,

The Head of Compliance at The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority informed you about three Months' ago that this Request was "likely"; for that reason, a response ought to be readily available.

The NDA were unable to provide the locational details of Site A and Site B - saying that RWM would be able to answer this.

As listed on RWM’s “Organisational Chart”, I noted [at the time of that Request] there were currently 2 sites: “Site A” and “Site B” at which geological investigators are deployed or required.

Site A - has a Geophysicist reporting to a Senior Geophysicist and has a Geological Investigations Manager reporting to The Head of Site Characterisation.

Site B – has a Geological Investigations Manager plus a Geological Technical Integrator and a Geoscience Data Manager and also has a Site Characterisation Health and Safety Manager all of whom report to The Head of Site Characterisation.

The Head of Site Characterisation reports directly to The Technical Director of RWM.

This shows that at least two sites are being considered.

Please identify Site A and Site B for which all of these geological scientists and management are required?

Yours faithfully,

Darryl J Lee (Mr.)

Dear Mr Lee,

Ref: FOI 5957

Thank you for your information request received on 4 January for the
following:

As listed on RWM’s “Organisational Chart”, I noted [at the time of that
Request] there were currently 2 sites: “Site A” and “Site B” at which
geological investigators are deployed or required.

Site A - has a Geophysicist reporting to a Senior Geophysicist and has a
Geological Investigations Manager reporting to The Head of Site
Characterisation.

Site B – has a Geological Investigations Manager plus a Geological
Technical Integrator and a Geoscience Data Manager and also has a Site
Characterisation Health and Safety Manager all of whom report to The Head
of Site Characterisation.

The Head of Site Characterisation reports directly to The Technical
Director of RWM.

This shows that at least two sites are being considered.

Please identify Site A and Site B for which all of these geological
scientists and management are required?

I have treated your request under the Environmental Information
Regulations (EIR). I confirm that RWM holds information related to your
request and this is provided below.

No site locations have been selected for a GDF, however we are conducting
engagement within a number of local communities via Working Groups and
Community Partnerships. The locations of these are in the public domain at
[1]https://www.workinginpartnership.org.uk/.

The Site A and Site B references on the organisational chart are
placeholders that identify a need to develop the capacity and capability
to be ready to deliver the necessary technical assessments for multiple
areas when required during a detailed process of Site Characterisation
that will be necessary to support any future decisions on sites for a GDF.

If you are unhappy with the way in which RWM has dealt with your request,
you have the right to require us to review our actions and decisions. If
you wish to request a review, please reply to this email or write to me at
[2][RWM request email] within 40 working days of receipt of this
response. You will receive a full response to your request for review
within 20 working days of its receipt.

Please remember to quote ref FOI 5957 in any correspondence about this
request.

If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have
the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:

Information Commissioner's Office
Wycliffe House
Water Lane

Cheshire SK9 5AF
