Gatwick drone - counter UAS

I Hudson made this Freedom of Information request to Sussex Police

Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was refused by Sussex Police.

Dear Sussex Police,

In December 2018 when the Gatwick drone incident occurred could you confirm the time and date of the first counter UAS system being deployed? This was likely DJI Aeroscope.

If you can provide the names of the other CUAS systems then great but if not provide with redacted names the date and times the other CUAS systems became active.

This is in the public interest to validate the timeline of events.

Yours faithfully,

I Hudson

Dear Ian,

Thank you for your request which was received by Sussex Police.

This request will be dealt with under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and you will receive a response within the statutory timescale of 20 working days as defined by the Act, from the date of receipt. In some circumstances Sussex Police may be unable to achieve this deadline. If this is likely you will be informed and given a revised time-scale at the earliest opportunity.

Some requests may also require either full or partial transference to another public authority in order to answer your query in the fullest possible way. Again, you will be informed if this is the case.

Please Note:
Sussex Police are currently receiving a high volume of FOI requests at a time of reduced staffing levels to process them. Every effort is being made to comply with the statutory 20 working day response deadline but on occasions this may not be possible – we apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.

Yours sincerely

Dear Sussex Police,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Sussex Police's handling of my FOI request 'Gatwick drone - counter UAS'.

After a year the FOI hasn't been replied to, explain though it even allowed redaction of names of systems if that was necessary but really shouldn't be as all the systems were photographed and named in national newspapers.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:

Yours faithfully,

I Hudson

It is now known through other sources that:
Metis Skyperion

Leonardo Falcon Shield

Were the systems photographed at Gatwick on day 2 (20/12/18). AUDS was rumoured present too.
