Dear Antrim and Newtownabbey District Council,

The information I have requested is environmental information, as defined in Regulation 2(1) of the Environmental Information Regulations, it is exempt from disclosure under Section 39 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. However, I want our Council to consider my request under regulation Section 74 of the Freedom of Information Act to consider my request under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, which gives me the public qualified rights to access to environmental information held by a public authority. I wish our Council therefore to considered my request under the Environmental Information Regulations.

1. How many gas catering establishments including mobile catering wagons currently operate in your council area ? If you don’t have this figure why not?

2. Can you confirm All these gas catering premises and mobile catering wagons All have a current gas safety certificate? If not why not?

3. HSENI have made it clear that our councils are responsible for maintaining gas standards in commercial premises do you keep a record of every gas safety certificate issued to each premises? If not why not?

4. How many gas catering premises mobile or other were visited by EHOs in the last 2 years?

5. How many EHOs serve the Antrim and Newtownabbey areas who regularly carry out premises inspections for compliance?

6. In the last 2 years how many sanctions have been applied to premises which derived from a direct result of gas issue or issues?

7. At every inspection of gas commercial premises or mobile catering wagons are the service and maintence sheduals also checked and documented?

8 what visual inspection of the safe operation of the gas appliances, fittings, canopies, extraction and interlocks contained in the premises do EHOs check? Do you use a visual inspection check list if so please send me a copy if not why not?

9. Given the recent explosion of the Clay Oven in Ballyhackamore also CO death in Cookstown what have our council recently done in the past 6 months to promote CO awareness , Gas Appliance SERVICING (not safety checks)? Please send links or copies of literature? If nothing has been done why not?

10. When a EHO observes a by-passed interlock in a gas commercial catering premises what action do they usually take?

11. When a EHO observes only half a ring lighting on a WOC burning what is the usual action taken by the attending officer?

12. When a EHO observes a canopy extractor failure what is the usual action taken by the attending officer?
