Dear Aberdeen City Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Aberdeen City Council's handling of my FOI request 'Gartner Conferences'.

Since Gartner is an very well known provider of IT consultancy I find it very hard to believe that your Information Technology has no record of attending Gartner Conferences. Can you please review this response?

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/g...

Yours faithfully,

David Ross

Foi Enquiries, Aberdeen City Council

Dear Mr Ross,

I refer to your email requesting that Aberdeen City Council (ACC) review
its handling of your request for information not held for Corporate
Governance – Information Technology and Transformation (CG-ITT).

I contacted the service and asked that they undertake a further search. If
information was still not found to be held, I asked them to explain why
information is not held. Please see below:

CG-ITT do not routinely hold centralised information on attendance at
Gartner conferences as this information has not been identified as being
valuable information to record in order to manage the Service.

Where a conference is attended as part of an employee’s formal personal
development it would be recorded within the Performance Review &
Development system, but this systems does not hold details of the supplier
of the conference.

Individuals who may have attended a Gartner conference may or may not have
retained an e-mail link to the conference in their emails. There is no
requirement to retain such an email for business purposes.

We hope this helps with your request.

Yours sincerely,

Grant Webster

On behalf of Review Panel Clerk
