Your request was received on 6 February 2025, and I am dealing with it under the terms of the 
Freedom of Information Act 2000 (‘the Act’). You asked: 
 
For the last 3 years, could you please provide the number of Engineering Undergraduate offers 
made to applicants who have opted for Deferred Entry to work in Industry for a year?  
Please provide this information by year and By college. 
 
The available information is attached. An applicant might decide to defer entry for various reasons, 
including but not limited to gaining industry experience. We do not collect data on why an applicant has 
applied for deferred entry. The University has aggregated the data across the time period to prevent 
the risk of any individual being identified. In presenting the information in this way, the University is 
engaging the exemption at section 40(3A)(a) of the Act because the release of the raw data would 
breach the first data protection principle (the fair, lawful and transparent processing of personal data) 
as set out in the UK General Data Protection Regulation. This part of section 40 confers absolute 
exemption under the Act.
