Gains and losses on Merseyside Pension Fund´s Sterling Japanese Yen Foreign Currency Hedging transactions

As the Administering Authority for Merseyside Pension Fund could you kindly inform me as to the gains and losses in GBP incurred by Merseyside Pension Fund in relation to its Sterling Japanese Yen Foreign currency hedging transactions in 2017.

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request in which you asked:
"As the Administering Authority for Merseyside Pension Fund could you
kindly inform me as to the gains and losses in GBP incurred by Merseyside
Pension Fund in relation to its Sterling Japanese Yen Foreign currency
hedging transactions in 2017"
Wirral Council can advise that Merseyside Pension Fund earned a profit of
£4.5m on its Sterling Japanese Yen Foreign currency hedge in 2017 - based
on positions that were implemented through 2017.
The Fund has been actively hedging part of the Japanese Yen exposure since
2013 and over the past 5 years has earnt a total profit of £18.8m.
