Thank you for your Freedom of Information request to Churchill College.
I’m writing to provide you with what data we can give you, and to explain
what we have needed to redact.

For most of the years you have requested, we are providing just
application numbers for students applying for Mathematics from mainland
China. We are not able to provide you with numbers of offers and
acceptances, although we do hold this data. This is because the numbers of
students in these categories is between 0 and 5.

The reason we do not declare numbers between 0 and 5 is that such small
numbers might make individuals identifiable. To protect the personal data
of these individuals, we redact numbers (marked ‘R’ below). This exemption
is covered under Section 40 (2) of the Freedom of Information Act.

If you are not satisfied with the way in which this request has been
handled, please address your complaint to the Bursar, Churchill College.
If the College is unable to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction,
you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner
