Future major outbreaks of disease

The request was partially successful.

John H Hutchinson

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,

Liverpool City has published how it will deal with a future outbreak of Coronavirus and, probably, any other major disease outbreak.

How Liverpool will deal with new outbreaks of coronavirus

What plans has WMBC made, please?

Yours faithfully,

Dear InfoMgr, FinDMT,
Thank you for your response including the e-link to WIRRAL COVID-19 OUTBREAK PREVENTION & CONTROL PLAN in which it says local outbreak plans are a core focus of NHS Test and Trace being an integrated and world-class COVID-19 Test and Trace service, designed to control the virus and enable people to live a safer and more normal life, which we know is not working well because the underpinning by a huge public engagement exercise to build trust and participation does not yet exist.

Without test, track and contain, how will Council's plan work?

The plan says that Council will continue to work with its community to promote protective measures, support local organisations, businesses, community groups, seek assurance that high-risk settings are prepared to manage COVID-19 outbreaks, develop a local testing strategy, provide dedicated information and advice and other measures for outbreak control, management and governance but does not say when these measures will or have begun.

When will the measures described in the plan begin and what publicity will Council be giving?

By what means will Council begin working with the various agencies and partners referred to?

I, living in West Kirby, did not receive a copy of Wirral View. How many other parts of the Borough did not receive a copy?

According to Wirral Globe, 21st August 2019,
Council's 'Wirral View' newspaper to close in October [2019]
https://www.wirralglobe.co.uk/news/17850...

If this is so, how did the Council manage to use a closed publication to publicise its vital information regarding COVID19?

The intention of my original request was to ascertain how the Council will deal with future outbreaks of Coronavirus and any other major disease outbreaks. Your response shows what Council hopes, would like to do today.

How and by what means does Council intend dealing with future outbreaks of Coronavirus and, probably, any other major disease outbreaks?

Yours sincerely,

John H Hutchinson

Dear InfoMgr, FinDMT,
Thank you, but the final edition of Wirral View was published in October 2019 was it not?

Yours sincerely,

Although the paper edition of Wirral View ended in October 2019, the website carried on after this date at https://wirralview.com/ . Hope that clears it up!

Dear InfoMgr, FinDMT,

Not really because it is for WMBC to supply the answers. But thank you, anyway!

Yours sincerely,

Dear InfoMgr, FinDMT,

Thank you for your full and detailed response.

Is "Wirral View" website being promoted? As a Wirral resident and one who is a very keen observer of what the Council does, I was not aware of the website until the letter from Dr Anwar.

What publicity has been given or will be given, since I have seen none, to the "Outbreak Management Plan" to which she refers in the final paragraph of her undated letter?

Where may the Outbreak Management Plan be read, please?

Yours sincerely,

John H Hutchinson
