Furloughed staff
Dear Ormiston Academies Trust,
With some staff likely to be furloughed due to coronavirus.
What will happen to staff salaries and benefits? Are they likely to get their full pay or will they get the new grant which the Chancellor has set out?
Have you done an estimate of how many staff this is likely to impact?
If you do offer more generous pay than the Chancellor has announced how often will this be reviewed?
What is your recruitment policy in regards to this? As some staff maybe hired but will not be able to perform their job due to the pandemic.
Yours faithfully,
Abdul Hai

Dear Mr Hai
The priority for Ormiston Academies Trust is to continue to provide
support to our students and staff whether they are studying at home or
being looked after in our academies as children of key workers or
vulnerable children.
We have made no plans to furlough staff and consider it very unlikely that
we will as our schools will need to continue to operate and provide an
education to our students throughout this period – staff are attending
those schools still open to look after students attending them; and are
supporting students at home with their remote learning. Central staff are
continuing to work to ensure our academies and Trust operate as normal.
Recruitment is continuing as normal, albeit some of the selection is to be
carried out by virtual interviews.
Best wishes
Rebecca Okey
