Funding from SAIC contributing to research projects whose aims are to mitigate damage done by salmon farms to marine wildlife, in the last 5 years.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Marine Scotland should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Marine Scotland,

I would like to submit this request under the Environmental Information Scotland Regulations 2004 and the Freedom of Information Scotland Act 2002 to ask for some information with regards to SAIC’s (Sustainable Aquaculture Innovation Centre) funding and expenditures in the last 5 years. I understand SAIC’s funding is focused towards expanding sustainable salmon farms and innovating technology for more profitable salmon farms. Much of their projects are interested in mitigating damage done by sea lice to the salmon farms. However, what I am interested in is finding how much of their funding, if any, has gone towards projects that aim to mitigate damage done by sea lice and salmon farms to marine wildlife.
Please can you ask your FOI officers to include any information on the following:

1)    Funding from SAIC contributing to research projects whose aims are to mitigate damage done by salmon farms to marine wildlife, in the last 5 years.

Yours faithfully,
 Peregrine Rex
