Funding for Design, Innovation and Technology Projects in the North East

Dear Department for Business, Innovation and Skills,

Could BIS provide figures, since 1985, as to how much
public money has been given to the North East's five universities to fund projects or activities (beyond the funding of student education itself) that involve design, innovation or technology as part of their described delivery. The universities are The University of Teesside, Northumbria University, Sunderland University, Newcastle University and Durham University?

Similarly, since 1985 how much public money has been given to public bodies, Quango's or other third party 'connectors' to fund projects or activities that involve design, innovation or technology as part of their described delivery. Such organisations include 'One North East', 'Business Link', Councils and independent third party connectors?

In each instance, for both universities and other parties described above, I would like to know the name and date of the project, who delivered the project, how much public funding was provided and what if any ROI (return on investment) was measured?

Yours faithfully,

Desmond Istani
