Dear South-Eastern Education and Library Board (Northern Ireland),

I am sending this FOI to you to ask you how much money has been spent by the SEELB to fund training for SEELB staff in the TEACCH Program (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication Handicapped Children) for the years 2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12 and for the current year.

Please advise how much in total has been spent to facilitate training in TEACCH for teachers, classroom assistants and any other staff members.

Please provide a break down of costs including costs associated with:

1. Cost of lights/accommodation for trainers (from USA and elsewhere)
2. Costs per person for SEELB staff if any, including accommodation costs (if training was over 2 or more days)
3. Costs of fees from trainers/organisations, both from USA and or elsewhere
4. Any other costs associated with TEACCH training for SEELB staff.
5. Costs of updates/licences to use the TEACCH program born by the SEELB.

Please advise if these costs are/were shared by any other statutory or voluntary organisation and in what ratios they were/are shared.

Further to your recent request for information. Please find detailed the
following information:-

 

1.    Copy of your initial request detailed below.

 

2.    The following information as per your request:

 

 

‘The Board assumes Mr Hogg is requesting information in relation to a 5
day TEACCH course held in March each year which is organised by the South
East Health & Social Care Trust (formerly Down Lisburn Trust) and would
comment as follows:-

 

Whilst the SEELB has provided support trainers at that course, the actual
course is organised by the Health Trust.  The Board does not hold
information relating to costs of bring trainers from the USA.

 

The Board understands that participants are charged £990 each.  However,
as educational participants come from schools (teachers and/or classroom
assistants) all costs are met from school budgets.  These are not
specifically recorded by the Board.

 

The Board is aware that the majority of participants on the course are
Health employees.

 

The Board is not aware of any costs for updates/licences to use the 5 day
TEACCH programme.’
