Dear Caitlin Boswell,
Re: Freedom of Information request – 64132
Thank you for your email of 12 May, in which you requested information about Home
Office recruitment. Your request, which is set out in full at the enclosed annex, has been
handled as a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
I am able to disclose that no additional Immigration Enforcement officers have been
recruited and no additional funding has been allocated to Immigration Enforcement in
order to deal with those who fail to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme by 30 June 2021.
If you are dissatisfied with this response you may request an independent internal review
of our handling of your request by submitting a complaint within two months to
xxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxx.xxx.xxx.xx, quoting reference
64132. If you ask for an internal
review, it would be helpful if you could say why you are dissatisfied with the response.
As part of any internal review the Department's handling of your information request would
be reassessed by staff who were not involved in providing you with this response. If you
were to remain dissatisfied after an internal review, you would have a right of complaint to
the Information Commissioner as established by section 50 of the FOIA.
Yours sincerely,
Immigration Enforcement Secretariat

Subject: 64132 - Freedom of Information request - Funding and recruitment for
immigration enforcement
Dear Home Office,
I am writing to request the following information under the Freedom of Information Act. I
would be interested in any information held by your department regarding my request,
including emails.
To deal with potentially greater numbers of undocumented EU citizens and non-EU family
members who fail to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme by the deadline of June 30th
2021, has the Home Office:
a) Recruited additional immigration enforcement officers?
b) Allocated additional funding towards immigration enforcement?
Yours faithfully,
Caitlin Boswell
Your previous FOI (63775), which was not processed by Immigration Enforcement,
asked:
Request for any relevant emails, meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and other documents
which contain information as to:
1. How the Home Office will approach, process and apply immigration enforcement
measures to EU citizens or non-EU family members who do not apply to the EU
Settlement Scheme by the deadline of June 30th 2021 and are subsequently deemed not
to have "reasonable grounds" for a late application as currently outlined in the Home Office
guidance "EU Settlement Scheme: EU, other EEA and Swiss citizens and their family
members" (version 11.0, published 6 April 2021)?
2. How the Home Office will approach, process and apply immigration enforcement
measures to EU citizens or non-EU family members who do not apply to the EU
Settlement Scheme by the deadline of June 30th 2021 and subsequently fail to apply
during the 28 day window granted by immigration enforcement, as currently outlined in the
Home Office guidance "EU Settlement Scheme: EU, other EEA and Swiss citizens and
their family members" (version 11.0, published 6 April 2021)?
