Funded bids awarded as part of Stage 2 of the JISC Grant Funding call 8/11
Dear Joint Information Systems Committee,
Please may I have a copy of:
1) all bid documents relating to bids that were funded under stage 2, Implementation, of the JISC Grant Funding call 8/11 - "Course Data" - excluding information identified as excludable from FOI requests by the bidding parties insofar as those exclusions are legitimate.
2) copies of any conditions associated with funding that diverge from the bid documents
3) i) statements relating to the actual amount of funding awarded arising from the call and ii) where available, but not prejudicial to request 3(i), breakdowns of how that funding was to be further disbursed by awardees, eg with respect to third party contractors.
Yours faithfully,
Tony Hirst

Dear Mr Hirst,
Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000 –
F2013/684
Thank you for your request for information about the funded bids awarded
as part of stage 2 of the JISC Grant Funding call 8/11. On the 1 December
2012 JISC became Jisc, a registered charity and was established as a
company making the organisation a separate legal entity. Therefore, your
request has been passed to the Higher Education Funding Council for
England (HEFCE) to respond to.
Under section 1(1) of the FOIA you are usually entitled to be told whether
we hold any information that falls within the scope of your request and,
if we do, to have that information provided to you except where it is
covered by an exemption.
A total of 63 grants were awarded from Stage 2 of Grant Funding Call 8/11
and copies of the relevant bids are provided. Because of our IT
restrictions on sending large files by email we have split the bid
documents into two zip files. The first is attached, and the second will
follow in a separate email. The attached spreadsheet contains details of
funds awarded to each institution. All were awarded funding without
additional conditions, apart from the following:
University of Cambridge: funded on condition that the project focuses on
postgraduate and distance learning courses.
Staffordshire University: funded on condition of (i) appointment of a
project manager and (ii) clarification of feed licence.
University of Essex: funded on condition of reassurance on mitigation of
risks for resource issues.
Bishop Burton College: funded on condition of clarification on work
packages and creation of feed.
We do not collate information on how grant funding is further disbursed by
awardees and therefore cannot provide this information.
Please accept my apologies for the delay in sending our response to you. I
am attaching an explanation of our standard approach to copyright as well
as details of our appeals process should you feel dissatisfied with our
response.
Yours sincerely
Alison Madge
