Frequency and duration of 'Released under Investigation'

Paul Perrin made this Freedom of Information request to Sussex Police

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Sussex Police should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Sussex Police,

Due to unreasonable delays between arresting and charging suspects the police have been given the option of alowing arrested individuals to be 'released undeer investigation' rather than released on bail.

Since this option has been open to your force, I would like to know how many suspects have been 'Released under Investigation' a breakdown of the offences they are suspected of , the length of time between arrest and a charge/no charge decision, and the duration of investigations still open.

Ideally, for each month since this option has been available I would like to know how many suspects were 'Released under Investigation', the eventual duration of the release (before charge/no-charge) and the number still open (as of the date of this request)

I do not known how you hold this information, so if there are any issues about providing it do contact me ASAP to identify what you can provide.

Yours faithfully,

Paul Perrin

Dear Sussex Police,

Yet again Sussex Police fall in their legal ditty to handle information requests. It is hard to believe you are even trying.

So let's go for yet another internal review eh?

Yours faithfully,

Paul Perrin
