Freemasonry
Dear Audit Commission,
Is there any written requirement for District Auditors to declare if they are Freemasons?
Yours faithfully,
Sheila
Dear Sheila
Thank you for your email dated 21 April 2010.
There is a written requirement for all Commission employees to declare
if they are 'Freemasons'.
Paragraph 16.19 of the Commission's Code of Conduct states:
'You must inform your manager if you are a member of an organisation
that is not open to the public, which has a commitment to allegiance
(oaths) and secrecy about its rules, membership and conduct, for example
Freemasons.'
The Commission's Code of Conduct is attached for your information.
I hope you find this information helpful. However if you are unhappy
with this response, or the way your request has been handled, you can
raise a complaint under the Audit Commission's Access to Information
Complaint and Appeal Procedure. Please find a copy attached.
Yours sincerely

Dear Freedom of Information,
Thank you for your kind and prompt response. That is very helpful. I couldn't open either of the links but the paragraph you quote is, I think, all I need.
Would I as a member of the public be allowed to know if anyone in particular at the Audit Commission had made such a declaration?
Yours sincerely,
Sheila Oliver
