Freedom Pass

The request was successful.

Dear Kent County Council,

Please could you provide me with figures to tell me how many young people have bought a freedom pass in the past five years? I'm interested to see if the rising cost has dampened demand.

Yours faithfully,

Sally Gathern.

Kent County Council

Dear Ms Gathern

Thank you for your request for information made under the Freedom of
Information Act (FOIA) 2000, relating to the Kent Freedom Pass. I am
pleased to provide the response below:

Please could you provide me with figures to tell me how many young people
have bought a freedom pass in the last five years. I’m interested to see
if the rising cost has dampened demand. In providing this information, we
felt we should clarify the information given.

·         In 2012, the scheme changed to be the Young Person’s Travel Pass
and therefore the numbers provided relate to this scheme.

·         The scheme is administered in accordance with the academic year
which runs from September to end August and the figures therefore relate
to each respective scheme year.

·         The number of pass holders change constantly and therefore those
provided are for an appropriate point in respective scheme year and
provided to provide a reasonably reliable year on year comparison.

Pass Numbers are provided in the table below:

2012 / 13 27,680
2013 / 14 29,972
2014 / 15 25,064
2015 / 16 24,312
2016 / 17 24,968
