Dear Mr Thomas
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - INFORMATION REQUEST AND INTERNAL
REVIEW
Further to your email correspondence and your subsequent
Information Commissioner Complaint, I am writing to confirm that
we have completed the search for the information you requested. A
copy of the information is detailed below.
You asked: How many requests for information under the act has the
council
received?
2005 - 182
2006 - 163
2007 - 156
2008 - 156
2009 - 367
2010 to date - 157
You asked: How many have times has the council failed to respond
within the
statutory 20 day period?
2005 - 2
2006 - 4
2007 - 8
2008 - 13
2009 - 27
2010 to date - 5
These have occurred when the Council has issued a fees notice,
requested further clarification or, there has been a requirement
to undertake a Public Interest Test or contact a Third
Party/external organisation. There were 4 requests in 2008 and 8
requests in 2009 that were not completed within the timescale for
unspecified reasons and the Council has now addressed this.
I would like to apologise on behalf of the Council for the lengthy
delay in responding to your request, and the lack of action on
your subsequent request for an Internal Review. We are aware that
you have already registered a complaint with the Information
Commissioner's Office and we are currently in correspondence with
them. We would like to inform you that we have already reviewed
elements of our request handling process and will be implementing
further changes to improve our process.
If you have any queries about this letter you can contact me, or
write to: FOI, Town Hall, Blackpool, FY1 1NA, or email us at
[1][Blackpool Borough Council request email]. Please remember to
quote your reference number when you contact us.
Yours sincerely
