I write to acknowledge receipt of your email below. So that I can log this FOI request for you, I will need to ask you to provide me with your full name for our records.

Section 8(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 states that a request for information must include the requester’s real name.

The ICO guidance states that if the requester:

• fails to provide a name;
• can’t be identified from the name provided (for example because they have only used their first name or initials); or
• is using an obvious pseudonym,

then their request won’t meet the requirements of section 8(1)(b) and will technically be invalid.

Can you therefore resubmit your request and provide me with your full name please?

We acknowledge your request for information received on 20 December 2024.
 Firstly, please accept our apologies for the delay in sending this
acknowledgement, we are currently working through a large backlog of
emails.

We are considering your request and you should receive a response within
the statutory timescale of 20 working days, unless the information is
exempt or we require additional time to consider whether disclosure is in
the public interest in accordance with section 2 of the Freedom of
Information Act.

The Act defines a number of exemptions which may prevent release of the

We refer to your email dated 20 December 2024 which contained a request
for information as set out in italics below.  Firstly, please accept our
apologies for the delay in responding to you.  Following consideration of
your request, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I
respond to each point as follows:

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act
2000. Please provide the following details:

The total number of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) received by your
authority for each of the last three years (2021, 2022, and 2023).

2021 – 127

2022 – 129

2023 – 136

The number of DSARs completed within the statutory one-month timeframe
during each year.

2021 – 42 cases were closed within the statutory one-month timeframe

2022 – 19 cases were closed within the statutory one-month timeframe

2023 – 40 cases were closed within the statutory one-month timeframe

The number of DSARs that required an extension beyond the one-month
timeframe, along with the average length of extensions granted.

2021 – 55 cases were closed within the statutory one-month timeframe

2022 – 57 cases were closed within the statutory one-month timeframe

2023 – 58 cases were closed within the statutory one-month timeframe

Please note that the figures at questions 2 and 3 do not relate to the
figures at question 1. 

Any recorded costs (e.g., staff time, software, or other resources)
associated with processing DSARs for each of these years.

The requested information is not recorded, therefore the Council does not
hold the requested information.  

I hope this response satisfies your request. If you are dissatisfied with
the handling of the request, under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 you
have the right to request a review of the Council’s response to your
request for information.  If you wish to request a review, please write to
