To whom it may concern,

I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information from your organisation:

1) How many complaints relating to housing has your organisation received in the past five years (January 2016 to present)? How many of these cases are ongoing? [Please could you provide the data for each year e.g. 2016 “X” number of complaints, 2017 “X” number of complaints.]

2) How many staff members do you have working as part of your complaints resolution team or equivalent team?

3) How many social housing tenants (council house and housing association tenants) does your council have? How many social housing dwellings/properties (council house and housing association dwellings/properties) does your council have?

5) How much money has your organisation spent on housing repairs and maintenance each year for the past five years (Jan 2016-present)? [Please could you provide the data for each year e.g. 2016 “X” number, 2017 “X” number]

My preferred format for this data is CSV format.

If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under the Section 16 obligations of the Act, as to how I can refine my request.

Thank you for your request for information received on 1st April 2021. We
have considered your request and provide the following information –

 

(1) How many complaints relating to housing has your organisation received
in the past five years (January 2016 to present)? How many of these cases
are ongoing? [Please could you provide the data for each year e.g. 2016
“X” number of complaints, 2017 “X” number of complaints.]

 

Jan 2016 - Dec 2016 = 106 complaints

Jan 2017 - Dec 2017 = 82 complaints

Jan 2018 - Dec 2018 = 68 complaints

Jan 2019 - Dec 2019 = 102 complaints

Jan 2020 - Dec 2020 = 78 complaints

 

All complaints recorded above have been investigated, responded to and the
record closed.

 

2) How many staff members do you have working as part of your complaints
resolution team or equivalent team?

 

Caerphilly Homes has 2 Full Time Employed Customer Services staff.

 

3) How many social housing tenants (council house and housing association
tenants) does your council have?

 

There are 10,374 council tenancies with 12,684 tenants. This is for CCBC
only as we do not have access to HA tenancy data.

 

4) How many social housing dwellings/properties (council house and housing
association dwellings/properties) does your council have?

 

There are 10,645 Council owned properties currently in debit (including
properties void for decant and regeneration). We do not hold current
information on the number of socially rented homes in the County Borough
owned by housing associations.

 

5) How much money has your organisation spent on housing repairs and
maintenance each year for the past five years (Jan 2016-present)? [Please
could you provide the data for each year e.g. 2016 “X” number, 2017 “X”
number]

 

We hold the following repairs and maintenance spend in financial years - 

      

2015-16 -  £3,815,396                   

2016-17 - £4,234,001                   

2017-18 - £3,644,423                   

2018-19 - £3,725,124                   

2019-20 - £3,868,860                 

2020-21 - £2,078,397*                  

TOTAL - £21,366,201               

 

*2020-21 is incomplete, final figures are not available yet, we would
expect lower figures due to Covid restrictions.

 

Please note the figures above exclude the costs of the Welsh Housing
Quality Standard Programme upgrades.
