Dear Access 2 Info (Commissioning Communities and Policy),

The response to my request has been delayed. It was not a particularly unwieldy piece of information and you are bound by law to provide it. Please can you give it your urgent attention?

Yours sincerely,

Stephanie Grabiec

CS DP and FOI (Childrens Services), Derbyshire County Council

Dear Ms Grabiec,

Thank you for your information request dated 19 June 2019. I can confirm
that we do hold some of the requested information and I apologise for the
delay. The request has been considered under the Freedom of Information
Act 2000.  The response to your request is as follows:

Number of young people aged 18 or over with Special Educational Needs who
are currently being educated under an EHCP with whole or partial funding
from Derbyshire County Council = 297

Number of young people aged 18 or over with Special Educational Needs who
are currently being educated under an EHCP with whole or partial funding
from Derbyshire County Council using either Education other than at school
(EOTAS) or Education Other than at College (EOTAC).  = 0 YP over 18

Number of young people with SEN and an EHCP from Derbyshire County Council
that includes funding to support Alternative and Augmented Communication
such as Rapid Prompting Method (RPM), BSL, Speech Synthesiser, Voice
output communication aids and training

We cannot provide definitive information on this:

Augmentative and Alternative Communication devices- these are provided by
health at either a regional or NHS Trust level- depending on
cost/complexity of needs. Although we work with some children using these
we don’t hold a list of all children. Additionally the PI team, who would
work with these children, only work with those in mainstream, and not
those in Special School.

We don’t hold exact figures for BSL- we have around 16 children who use
pure BSL but possibly another 80 who use a mix of sign and oral
communication.

Voice Output Aids/Speech Synthesisers- There are <5 children in mainstream
schools but there are likely to be a lot more in Special Schools.

Please note that numbers of less than 5 (<5) are exempt under S40(2) of
the Freedom of Information Act and are not included so as not to make
individuals identifiable.

I hope this now deals with your request for information. However should
you wish the outcome to be reviewed, please follow the procedure as set
out below;

Stage 1:

In the first instance, please send in your comments, and wherever
