OUR RESPONSE

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council holds the following recorded
information in relation to your request:

 

There is reference to Model Aircraft in some of the Council Bye-Laws for
some beaches, but no specific reference to flying of drones.

 

At Council’s Forest Parks drone usage is not permitted without formal
Council approval. Approval requires an application with risk assessment,
proof of insurance, pilot’s licence etc.

 

As part of Council’s management of risk it works with Leisurewatch
([1]https://www.tdi.org.uk/leisurewatch/) which provides to the Council as
part of its membership Best Practice Guidance for responding to drone
flights over public spaces.
