Freedom of Information Request-AFCS Claims-20170530-FOIA

The request was successful.

Mr Terence Roberts

Dear Ministry of Defence,

Please consider this a request under The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

1. With reference to the implementation of the Armed Forces Compensation Act by the MOD and Veterans UK:

a. Do Veterans UK staff/personnel (or contractors/subsidiaries who act on their behalf) receive any incentives (financial or otherwise) for minimising compensation payments paid out under AFCS? If so, can this be published?

b. Does Veterans UK have a risk/benefit policy that seeks to minimise initial compensation levels, with a view to only increasing awards after reviews/appeals? If so, can this be published?

c. If not, has analysis been conducted to explain why the majority of awards are increased after review, reconsideration and appeal? If so, can this be published?

Yours faithfully,

Mr Terence Roberts on behalf of Defence Business Services Secrtariat, Ministry of Defence
