Dear Mr Kneale-Jones

Thank you for your email dated 21 June 2017 in which you request how many
registered self employed hair dressers there are in the United Kingdom as
of December 2016.

The information you require can be found via our website.  Our Free
Company Data Product is available in an excel spreadsheet and you will be
able to search in the SIC code field for the required code (Hairdressing
and other beauty treatment is 96020) – other codes can be found on our
website

The data product also provides the following information: the company
number, address, status, incorporation date, account and annual return
filing dates.

Details of a company can be obtained free of charge, by searching the

Our DVD Product also provides basic searchable company details: company
name, company number, registered office address lines, postcode, date of

company status.  A one off copy would cost £30

I am unable to provide the information you have requested as, under
section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 any information that is
reasonably accessible to the applicant, albeit on payment of a fee, is
exempt information under the Act.
