Dear Brooks, Jenni,
I require further clarification.
1. If the trust is not commissioned to deliver fracture liaison services then why did the nhsct advertise 2 fracture liaison nurse posts (1x band 7 and 1x band 6) on hsc recruit towards the end of last year (2019). Surely there then has to be a business case and the required commissioning otherwise why would the trust advertise these positions?
2. To confirm is the trust stating that nobody actually clinically evaluates the scan and the automated DEXA scan print and raw data is sent out to referrers without an accompanying written report or being checked for accuracy by a radiologist?
Kind regards
Sinead

Just so I can be sure of the timeline.
You sent original request on 26th November 2019 and we replied on 31 December 2020.
You then sent the email as detailed below on 3 January?
Did you get a response/acknowledgment to your email of 3 January? If so from whom and if possible can you send me that response please.
I cannot find any record of us receiving your 3 January email or of any response we sent.
If you can provide the information above then I will certainly investigate.

Dear Ms Conway,
Please accept my apologies for this information not having been provided to you sooner, this was an oversight you had requested clarification on the following two questions -
The information issued previous to you as inaccurate, and I hope the information bellows provides clarification -
The Trust advertised and appointed 2 FLS nurses in February 2020 which the Commissioner agreed to Fund in 2019/2020, in anticipation of a Business case being submitted for 2020/2021, to include all staff and goods and services/
The staff took up the post in February 2020 to facilitate the completion of required training and development of the Service.
The business case has now been submitted and funding agreed.
2. Confirm is the Trust stating that nobody actually clinically evaluates the scan and the automated DEXA scan print and raw data is sent out to referrers without an accompanying written report or being checked for accuracy by a radiologist?
Yes, this is correct. However, the Trust have identified a staff member and commissioned funding to deliver formal DEXA reports. Unfortunately COVID has delayed the training required, and we are awaiting advice regarding when the training will take place post-COVID.
Once again please accept my apologies for not having responded. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further information.
Kind Regards,
Marjorei Moore
