Fracking traffic light assurance
Dear Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy,
On BBC North West News tonight Francis Egan (CX of Cuadrilla) claimed that fracking operators were assured in 2012 that the 0.5 ml red light limit would be adjusted in the light of experience. He claimed that this assurance was given by Ed Davey, SOS for the Department of Energy and Climate Change. This Department was of course merged with DBEIS in July 2016.
Can you please indicate whether Mr. Egan's comment was true and, if so, supply documentary evidence showing the circumstances in which the assurance was given and its exact wording.
Yours faithfully,
John Wilkinson
