Thank you for your request for information.

As the information you have requested is ‘environmental information’ for
the purposes of the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004
(EIRs), we are required to deal with your request under those Regulations.
We have therefore applied the exemption contained in section 39(2) of
FOISA and we have dealt with your request for environmental information
under the EIRs alone.

Your request for information was for the following:
I would appreciate if you could forward on the water testing results for
the area of ML8. In particular, I would like to see the manganese levels.

Please find attached the information requested.

Please note that many, but not all, regulatory drinking water standards
(Prescribed Concentration or Value (PCV)) are health-based. Some are set
for aesthetic reasons, which is the case for Manganese.
While some customers may find the colour of potable water that is above
the PCV for Manganese undesirable it is well below the World Health
Organization (WHO) health-based value, 400µg/l. In addition, Public Health
Scotland also quotes Short-Term Health Risk Action Values  For
Drinking-Water In Scotland (SHRAVs), which for Manganese is 1000µg/l. The
short-term exposure values are intended to assist in making a health risk
assessment. There are different drinking water standards all over the
world and we respond to what the requirements are in Scotland and through
our processes and procedures we liaison on these matters with the local
Health Boards, Public Health Scotland and the Drinking Water Quality
Regulator.
