Dear The Fostering Network,

Information Request – reference no. DC/4917.

Thank you for your information request dated 23.05.22, which has been
dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

Our response to your request is as follows:

Please could you tell me your 2022-23 weekly foster care allowances for
all age bands, NOT including any fee/reward element for foster carers.

Fostering allowances (called All Inclusive Allowance - AIA) without the
Fee are as follows:

* 0 - 4 years = £146 per week

* 5 - 10 years = £168 per week

* 11 - 15 years = £208 per week

* 16 - 17 years = £252 per week

Birthday and Christmas allowances are paid automatically 3 weeks before
their birthday and Christmas at the rates of:

* 0 - 4 years = £85

* 5 - 10 years = £96

* 11 - 15 years = £110

* 16 - 17 years = £141

They are costed the same so will get £85 for birthday and an additional
£85 at Christmas, for example.

Please detail any allowances that ALL foster carers can claim in addition
to their weekly allowance, e.g., holiday allowance or mileage.

Holiday allowances can be claimed once per financial year per Child in
Care at the rates of:

* 0 - 4 years = £168

* 5 - 10 years = £186

* 11 - 15 years = £213

* 16 - 17 years = £274

Milage can be claimed after 12 miles per day per child as this is included
within the All Inclusive Allowance.

Other Discretionary Payments that can be claimed for:

Initial Clothing – A one-off emergency payment for initial clothing for a
newly placed Child in Care (CiC), based on need, up to £75 for a child
aged 0 to 10 and up to £100 for a child aged 11+. To be agreed by
fostering managers.

School Uniform – Applications can be made for a one-off payment for a move
to a new school for CiC - up to £75 primary school, £120 secondary school
(badged items only). The remaining costs are included within the AIA. All
claims must go to a fostering manager.

Training - Attendance at training events (approved Foster Carers only)
provided via Dorset Council payable at £25 per day or £12.50 per half day,
up to 2 days per year. Childcare will also be reimbursed, if applicable,
for all courses, and mileage is also paid.

Life Books – full book completed by Foster Carer £50.

Introductions Costs – A payment of £100 can be claimed by Carers to cover
the costs of supporting introductions in their own home, local travel to
the child’s new home and to provide refreshments to new adoptive parents
or long-term carers. This recognises the intensity and importance of
ensuring the child moves successfully. Any further accommodation costs
where carers are expected to travel and stay in the new area will be met
by DC.

Please could you tell me your 2022-23 weekly allowances for former foster
carers looking after young people in 18+ Staying Put arrangements, broken
down by year 1, year 2, and year 3 if necessary.

For Staying Put:

Support monies per week are £110.00 and in exceptional circumstances for a
high needs young person (y/p) £150.00 per week.

If a Staying Put y/p goes to University, we pay the foster carer £65.00
per week rent on the room for 52 weeks of the year.  Support monies are
paid for 10 weeks to cover vacations.
