Dear Mr Cann
Request for information: Foster care
Please see below the Council’s response to your request for information.
You have asked;
a) Your total number of registered foster carers
There are 93 registered (approved) foster families/households comprising
156 individual registered foster carers
b) The number of your registered foster carers who are non-UK EU
nationals;
We have interpreted this to mean foster carers who are non-UK but are EU
nationals – in which case there are 2 foster carers.
c) The number of your currently fostered children who are non-UK EU
nationals;
As at 31.1.2018 there were 109 young people in foster care. Nationality is
not a mandatory field on the Council’s Social Care database and is only
recorded for 67 of the 109 young people.
Of the 67 for whom nationality is recorded, 63 are UK nationals; the other
4 are non UK and non EU.
d) The number of your UK national foster carers who foster outside of
the UK, but within the EU.
No West Berkshire registered foster carers are fostering outside the UK
