Dear Kerry Moodie,
Please pass this on to the Information Rights Manager.
I am writing to request an internal review of the FOIR made by myself on the 30th May 2017.
I am requesting this review for the following reason/s…
The response I received from the Post Office is contradictory as it outlines why this information wouldn’t prejudice commercial interests, the response states...
“the financial performance of individual branches will depend on a number of factors that can include population demographics, type and location of nearby retail competitors, number of customer visits to the branch, the type of transactions typically undertaken by customers and the number and location of other post office branches in the vicinity”.
To understand the performance of this branch that is no-longer operating would be realistically un-achievable, for the following reasons…
The “type and location of nearby retail competitors” vary considerably from one town to the next.
The “number and location of other post office branches in the vicinity” vary considerably from one town to the next.
The “type of transactions typically undertaken by customers” is information that is ONLY held by the Post Office. As far as I am aware there is no statutory obligation imposed upon the Post Office to publish this information.
The "number of customer visits to the branch" is in relation to a former branch that is non-existent.
I am therefore of the opinion that the publication of the requested information is too remote and couldn’t be used to judge the position of the existing franchised branch within Halifax Town Centre or other Agency/Crown branches and subsequently affect the Post Office negotiations in “future potential franchise partners”.
A full history of my request and subsequent correspondence is available from the following address... https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/f...
Yours faithfully,
MBradley
