Football Flares and Banning Orders
Dear Dorset Police,
I would like to know the answer to the following questions relating
to your force area.
(If you can't provide seasonal figures, then yearly figures for
each of the last 5 years would suffice.)
1. How many arrests have been made during each football season for
the last 5 years due to a person possessing or smuggling flares,
fireworks or smoke bombs at/into football grounds?
2. How many football banning orders have been enforced during each
football season for the last 5 years specifically because of
someone possessing or smuggling flares, fireworks or smoke bombs
at/into football grounds?
3. How many arrests have been made during each football season for
the last 5 years for football related violence?
4. How many football banning orders have been enforced during each
football season for the last 5 years for football related violence?
5. How many football banning orders have been breached by a person
during each football season for the last 5 years?
6. Can you please split the figures into season by season over the
last 5 years from 2010/11 through to the 2014/15 season? If this is
not possible, a yearly figure from 2010-2015 would be appreciated.
Yours faithfully,
Steve Hermon

Dear Steve Hermon,
Our reference – 2015-540
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request received on the 1st July 2015. We sincerely apologise for the delay in responding to you.
Your request has now been considered and we provide our response in the attached PDF file.
Some of the information you require is held individually within relevant crime and arrest reports whereby a manual or free text search would be required; not in a centrally retrievable format. We must also be mindful that the data sample in response to aspects of your request is inherently small; a breakdown by individual year/season would reduce this further. As such, to avoid further delay; this response has been formulated to provide you with as much detail as possible under the constraints of the Act.
Upon reading the attached; should you have any further inquiries concerning this matter, please write or contact me on telephone number 01202 223402 quoting the reference number.
Dorset Police provides you the right to request a re-examination of your case under its review procedure. If you decide to request such a review you should address your request to the Head of the Information Compliance Unit, Professional Standards Department, Dorset Police Headquarters, Winfrith, Dorchester, Dorset DT2 8DZ or [Dorset Police request email] .You have a further right to ask the Information Commissioners Office to decide whether or not your request has been appropriately dealt with, but they will not consider your complaint until the Dorset Police Review Procedure has been concluded.
Yours Sincerely,
Lucianne Pharoah
