Footage to show registration from a hit and run car

We're waiting for Hayley Hope to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Highways England Company Limited,

A car hit the back of my grey discovery sport, reg YE69 DGO at around 15.36, 28th September after I stopped at a give way sign. The car was a grey 4 x 4. It stopped then drove off before swapping details. 4 people including my two children were injured. I need the licence plate for insurance and police. The road came of A616 west turning off to deepcar onto wortly road, s362sq. There are cameras along the a616. The car that hit us was directly behind us so will have been caught by the camera.

Yours faithfully,
Simon Hope

Dear Mr Hope

Thank you for your email to Highways England dated 27 September regarding
the availability of CCTV footage.

I'm sorry to hear of the incident you and your family were involved in, I
do hope you are all ok.

We've looked into your enquiry and regrettably we don't have any CCTV
cameras in the area you're referring to and as a result we’re unable to
provide you with the requested footage.

Should you need to request CCTV in the future please be aware that:
- Any request must be made within 5 days of the incident to provide us
with time to search for footage, because it can only be stored for a
maximum of 7 days.

- Cameras are installed to view the overall traffic conditions and not
individual vehicles.

- There is limited likelihood of a camera pointing in the right direction
at the right time.

- The level of zoom affects whether registration details are visible.

- If any footage is available customers will be asked to provide 2 items
of ID prior to any images being released.
