With reference to your Freedom of Information request, please see below the information in response to your
queries:
I would like to know whether any of the food served on the standard hospital menu sheet in all hospitals
managed by this trust contain the food additives aspartame, carboxymethylcellulose (E466) or polysorbate-80
(E433), and the approximate number/type of food items that contain these. Additionally, do you have a policy
on the regulation of ood additives contained in your food?
On the majority of our Sites, catering is provided under PFI contracts and the PFI provider has
requested this information from its suppliers but as yet has not had a response.
For our in-house service on the Trafford sites, there will not be any aspartame or polysorbate-80 E433
in the multiportion products we are offering.
The Trust currently does not have a policy on the regulation of food additives.
