Following the science and school closures

Miss G made this Freedom of Information request to Scottish Government

This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Scottish Government should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Scottish Government,

On 24th November 2020, Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on Behaviours (SPI-B) and the Department for Education (DfE)
provided this report to the UK government.
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk...
Assuming Scottish parliament had, this information also, you decided to close schools again in Nov/ Dec 2020 and they remain closed still.

Under the freedom of information act I request the following information.

Why did the Scottish government choose to
1) ignore the science produced by SPi-B and DfE?
2)not follow the science produced by SPi-B and DfE?
3) choose to put our children at risk of suicide by continuing to keep them out of school?

At the time of making the decision to risk killing our children by suicide and close schools again

4) what other scientific evidence or any evidence did the Scottish GOV have available to them that aided the decision to ignore the SPi-B and DfE report and close the school and cause unnecessary child suicide deaths? Please provide all data , statistics, information, minutes, document etc that were used in making this decision to put our children at risk of suicide

I have read the house of commons investigation into the UK response to covid, which does include Scotland, and it's explains how the decisions made by the UK GOV are not based solely on the science and, the science is not always followed, as the public believes, and is evident here, but there are a number of bodies/groups within the UK GOV, who SAGE feeds their scientific information into. The science is then looked at and if found that the science fits in and works alongside the gov's political agenda and policy making goals for sustainable future, it will be applied and followed. Whereas if this health science, doesn't fit in and work alongside the UK gov political agenda and policy making it is dismissed in favour of the political agenda.

5) Does the Scottish government also only apply and follow the health science if it fits in with the Scottish government political agenda and policy making of a sustainable future? If its all about saving lives, why did you ignore this science and close schools again when aware of this?

6) Do the Scottish Government make decisions on lockdown measures and restrictions based on scientific evidence from SAGE and their behavioural dept?

7) please provide all documentation, evidence, science, policies, that were considering and discussed by the Scottish Government prior to closing schools again in Nov/Dec 2020 and why they remain closed?

Yours faithfully,

Miss G Simpson
