Dear Vale of Glamorgan Council,

This FOIA request relates to council tax and the premiums being charged for second homes and vacant properties for the 2020/21 and 2021/22 financial year
Please provide the following information;-
The number of properties in this local authority which are subject to a second home premium
The additional tax revenue collected over and above the standard council tax charge for these properties
The number of properties in this local authority area which are subject to an empty charge
The number of properties which are subject to an increased empty charge
A breakdown of the properties liable for each increment in the increasing empty property charging structure.
For the avoidance of doubt we do not require individual property addresses or council tax liable party information.
Should the requested information exceed the time/cost requirements then we can break this down into constituent parts. If you require clarification then please do let me know

Thank you for your request for information on 29th June about: FOIA
Request - Wales

Please see our responses below:

The Vale of Glamorgan Council does not charge any Council Tax premiums, so
the number of properties subject to a premium, and the additional tax
revenue raised as a result of premiums is zero in each year.

The number of 'Long Term Empty - Class C' properties is currently 782 ,
all of which are subject to the full Council Tax charge, with no discount
or exemption applied.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the
right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be
submitted within two months of the date of receipt of the response to your
original letter and should be addressed to: The Monitoring Officer, Civic
Offices, Holton Road, Barry, CF63 4RU.

Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future
communications.

If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have
the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision.
