FOI Statistics for 2017

Alex Parsons made this Freedom of Information request to Bromsgrove District Council as part of a batch sent to 378 authorities

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Bromsgrove District Council,

I would like to make an FOI request about the following statistics in the previous annual period. If figures are recorded in calendar year this would be 2017, if financial year 2017-18. If available in both, I would prefer calendar for comparison to central government FOI statistics.

1. What period do you record FOI statistics in? Financial Year/Calendar Year/Other?
2. How many FOI requests have you received? (if this figure includes EIR requests, please state)
3. The number of requests where the information was granted?
4. The number of requests where the information was entirely withheld (no information provided)?
5. The number of requests where the information was partially withheld (some, but not all information requested, provided)?
6. How many requests were completed inside the statutory deadline?
7. How many requests were appealed to internal review?
8. How many decisions were upheld at internal review?
9. How many FOI decisions have been appealed to the ICO?
10. How many decisions were upheld by the ICO?
11. How many vexatious requests were received?

If not all information is available, please treat questions individually.

Yours faithfully,

Alex Parsons

Dear Alex Parsons,

Thank you for your recent Information request. I can now offer you the
following information:

I would like to make an FOI request about the following statistics in the
previous annual period. If figures are recorded in calendar year this
would be 2017, if financial year 2017-18. If available in both, I would
prefer calendar for comparison to central government FOI statistics.

1. What period do you record FOI statistics in? Financial Year/Calendar
Year/Other? Financial year

2. How many FOI requests have you received? (if this figure includes EIR
requests, please state) 601, including EIR

3. The number of requests where the information was granted? **

4. The number of requests where the information was entirely withheld (no
information provided)?  **

5. The number of requests where the information was partially withheld
(some, but not all information requested, provided)?  **

6. How many requests were completed inside the statutory deadline? 86%, or
approximately 516

7. How many requests were appealed to internal review? 6

8. How many decisions were upheld at internal review? 3 upheld, one
partially upheld (This figure is partly interpreted, as not all these
reviews were a matter of ‘upheld’ or ‘not upheld’)

9. How many FOI decisions have been appealed to the ICO? 0

10. How many decisions were upheld by the ICO? 0

11. How many vexatious requests were received? Not held

** We do hold this information in our records, however retrieving it would
involve reading the responses to each of 601 FOIs, and we estimate that
this would take approximately 30 hours. This is in excess of the 18 hours
the Information Commissioner states is the maximum time required to be
spent on collating a response to an information request, so we are
refusing this part of the request under Section 12 of the Freedom of
Information Act (Cost Limit).

I hope this resolves your enquiry and that you are satisfied with the
response.

However, if you are dissatisfied with the way your request has been
handled, you have the right to request an internal review.

If you are still dissatisfied following a review by the Council, you have
the right to complain to the Information Commissioner. You can contact the
Information Commissioner at:
