FOI Statistics for 2017
Dear South Norfolk District Council,
I would like to make an FOI request about the following statistics in the previous annual period. If figures are recorded in calendar year this would be 2017, if financial year 2017-18. If available in both, I would prefer calendar for comparison to central government FOI statistics.
1. What period do you record FOI statistics in? Financial Year/Calendar Year/Other?
2. How many FOI requests have you received? (if this figure includes EIR requests, please state)
3. The number of requests where the information was granted?
4. The number of requests where the information was entirely withheld (no information provided)?
5. The number of requests where the information was partially withheld (some, but not all information requested, provided)?
6. How many requests were completed inside the statutory deadline?
7. How many requests were appealed to internal review?
8. How many decisions were upheld at internal review?
9. How many FOI decisions have been appealed to the ICO?
10. How many decisions were upheld by the ICO?
11. How many vexatious requests were received?
If not all information is available, please treat questions individually.
Yours faithfully,
Alex Parsons

If any of the information you have requested is not contained in a

Dear Alex
I refer to your Freedom of Information request to which I am now in a
position to respond. My response is outlined below along with your
questions for ease of reference.
1. What period do you record FOI statistics in? Financial Year/Calendar
Year/Other? Calendar year
2. How many FOI requests have you received? (if this figure includes EIR
requests, please state) 532, including EIR
3. The number of requests where the information was granted? 362 in full.
Please note that a further 62 were not refused, but were either not held,
or partially not held).
4. The number of requests where the information was entirely withheld (no
information provided)? 48 (31 on the grounds that the information was
available on our website)
5. The number of requests where the information was partially withheld
(some, but not all information requested, provided)? 40 – the majority of
these were due to the removal of personal data or that certain questions
took over 18 hours to provide (the remaining information which was easily
accessible and supplied)
6. How many requests were completed inside the statutory deadline? 527
7. How many requests were appealed to internal review? one
8. How many decisions were upheld at internal review? one
9. How many FOI decisions have been appealed to the ICO? nil
10. How many decisions were upheld by the ICO? n/a
11. How many vexatious requests were received? one
Please note that the answers to Qs 3, 4 & 5 will not add up to the answer
to Q2 as some requests are referred to other organisations, retracted, no
clarification is received or are dealt with outside of the scope of FOI as
a thorough officer response is more appropriate.
I hope this is of assistance and is sufficient to meet your requirements,
but if, for whatever reason you wish to get back to me, please feel free
to do so. In particular if you are unhappy with the information provided
or how your request was handled please let me know and I will explain how
you can request an internal review of our decision.
Please quote FOI 18-302 in any further correspondence concerning this
request.
