The ICO publication says:
Page 1 - “This publication scheme commits an authority to make information available to the
public as part of its normal business activities. “ It continues: “The scheme commits an authority:
......... To publish any dataset held by the authority that has been requested, and any updated
versions it holds, unless the authority is satisfied that it is not appropriate to do so; to publish the
dataset, where reasonably practicable, in an electronic form that is capable of re-use;”
Page 2 - “Where it is within the capability of a public authority, information will be provided on a
website.”
Page 3 - “The purpose of this scheme is to make the maximum amount of information readily
available at minimum inconvenience and cost to the public.”
Page 4 - “Information held by a public authority that is not published under this scheme can be
requested in writing, when its provision will be considered in accordance with the provisions of
the Freedom of Information Act.

indicates the type of response made to each request where a response had been made as of the date
of receipt of your request. The information is presented as it is held within the spreadsheet used to
manage these requests; this has been subject to alterations in design over the years and accordingly
the information is not presented identically in each year and on occasions there are gaps. Minor
redactions have been made to the ‘subject’ column of a small number of requests where that
information is exempt under section 40(3)(a)(i) of the Act because it would identify individual requesters
and its release would breach the first data protection principle (the fair and lawful processing of
personal data) as set out in Schedule 1 of the Data Protection Act 1998.
The University does not consider your request to be a request for a dataset within the definition at
section 11(5) of the Act, though we have supplied the information both as a pdf and as an Excel
spreadsheet.
