Dear Mr Peachey
Freedom of Information Act Request F0016064
Thank you for your email of 15 May in which you ask:
“FOI questions re Streetmanager:
- Could the Department confirm the total spend to date for Streetmanager's Discovery and
Alpha phases?
- Has the Beta phase now been authorised?
- What is the minimum and maximum range of costs allocated for the Beta?
- The Department during its previous phases was committed to collecting information
about the lengths of the contracts for existing EToN noticing providers. Has this been
completed and will the Department publish an anonymised summary?
- Has the Department estimated the costs of change for a Local Authority?
- Has the Department estimated or had estimations passed to it of the costs of
implementation for a Utility?
- When does the Department expect all of the English LAs to adopt Streetmanager?
- Will the Department be mandating use of Streetmanager by regulation?
- When does it expect to do this?
- Has the Department estimated the full direct costs to itself of implementing
Streetmanager beyond the Beta stage? What is this estimate?”
I am dealing with your request under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000
(“the FOI Act”). Following a search of the Department for Transport’s (DfT) paper and
electronic records, I can provide the following responses to your questions.
Could the Department confirm the total spend to date for Streetmanager's
Discovery and Alpha phases?
Under section 21 of the FOI Act, we are not required to provide information which is
already reasonably accessible to you. Information about the total spend to date on the
Discovery and Alpha stages of street manager is available from:
https://www.digitalmarketplace.service.gov.uk/digital-outcomes-and-
specialists/opportunities/1639
https://www.digitalmarketplace.service.gov.uk/digital-outcomes-and-
specialists/opportunities/5319
I can confirm, however, that The DfT’s spend to date has been £188,400 on the
Discovery and £426,580 on the Alpha.
Has the Beta phase now been authorised?
I can confirm that the Beta phase has now been authorised.
What is the minimum and maximum range of costs allocated for the Beta?
Information on the minimum and maximum range of costs for the Beta phase will be
published very shortly on the digital market place.
The Department during its previous phases was committed to collecting
information about the lengths of the contracts for existing EToN noticing providers.
Has this been completed and will the Department publish an anonymised
summary?
The DfT does not hold this information.
Has the Department estimated the costs of change for a Local Authority?
Has the Department estimated or had estimations passed to it of the costs of
implementation for a Utility?
When does the Department expect all of the English LAs to adopt Streetmanager?
An 18 month Beta development phase has just begun. Further work on transition and
business change will be carried out during the Beta phase.
Will the Department be mandating use of Streetmanager by regulation?
Yes, this is the Department’s intention.
When does it expect to do this?
We will replace the existing technical specification at an appropriate time. An 18 month
Beta development phase has just begun. Further work on transition and business change
will be carried out during the Beta phase.
Has the Department estimated the full direct costs to itself of implementing
Streetmanager beyond the Beta stage? What is this estimate?
An 18 month Beta development phase has just begun. Further work on service
arrangements post-Beta will be estimated once the service design work is further
advanced.
