FOI Requests

The request was successful.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I note there are two FOI requests on the 'whatdotheyknow' website submitted to LDNP that have not been responded to, and which are now overdue by over 5 months.

Please could you let me know:

1. how many FOI Requests have been received by LDNP in the 2008 calendar year to date (Jan 1st - Oct 31st)?

2. how many of these received a response?

3. how many of those in (2), above, received a response within 20 working days?

Yours faithfully,

Mr Ormerod

Dear Mr Ormerod

Thank you for your request for information received via the
"whatdotheyknow" website. I note your comments on the outstanding
requests shown on the website. Unfortunately these requests for
information have not been received by the Authority and I was not aware of
them until I received your request and investigated the website (of which
I was previously unaware). I am advised that almost 90% of email received
by the Authority is rejected as spam by our email servers. It is an
unfortunate fact of life that this is necessary to ensure that a workable
email system is maintained. The Authority takes its obligations under the
Freedom of Information Act seriously and I have now asked our ICT team to
arrange for all email coming from the whatdotheyknow.com domain to be
whitelisted. I hope that this will avoid problems in email delivery from
the site in the future.

Email is by its nature an unreliable means of communication and I would
always recommend that an individual follows up an email request for
information if an acknowledgement is not received within three days.

You have asked for statistical information relating to FOI requests
received between January and October this year. I am aware of 19
requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act and the
Environmental Information Regulations. All of these have received a
response. 18 of the responses were made in time for receipt within 20
working days. You will be aware that your request on wild camping, made
in May this year, was responded to within three days.

Yours sincerely

Dear Mr Omerod

Quite what you will do with this information now you have it is unclear.

Given that a request had clearly gone unanswered, I was interested to know how many others had been ignored, as I had made a request to them myself previously and received a prompt answer.

That aside, what business is it of yours what I do with the information? Not everyone uses FOI to wage a personal campaign against a public authority you know.

Plus, I find it a little sad and somewhat childish that you have made this comment simply because I have criticised your use (or misuse) of FOI.
