FOI, Belfast City Council

Dear Kwajo Tweneboa

Thank you for your email dated 6 March 2024 requesting, under the Freedom
of Information Act 2000, information on vacant council homes.

I must advise you that Belfast City Council does not hold the information
you have requested.  This is because in Northern Ireland local government
district councils, such as Belfast City Council, do not have
responsibility for housing.

As far as I am aware, this is the responsibility of the Northern Ireland
Housing Executive (NIHE), the regional housing authority in Northern
Ireland.  You may, therefore, wish to redirect your request to the NIHE.
Their email address is: [1][email address].

You may also wish to re-direct your request to the Land and Property
Services who are responsible for the collection of rates and may be able
to assist you further. Their postal address is Land and Property Services,
Information Management Unit, 4^th Floor, Lanyon Plaza, 7 Lanyon Place,
Town Parks, Belfast, BT1 3LP.  Alternatively, freedom of information
requests can be submitted to the Land and Property Services Agency using
the following email address:- [2][email address].

If you are dissatisfied with how the Council handled your request for
information, you have the right to request that the Council formally
review this decision.  If you wish to do so, please write to the Records
Manager, Information Governance Unit, Legal and Civic Services, Belfast
City Council, City Hall, Belfast, BT1 5GS or send an email to:
[3][email address].

Should you remain dissatisfied following the Council's internal review,
you can seek an independent review from the Information Commissioner.
Requests for an independent review should be made in writing to: The
Information Commissioner, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire,
SK9 5AF.  However, I would advise you that the Information Commissioner
has indicated that a review will not be undertaken unless the Council has
first had an opportunity to re-consider its decision.

Yours sincerely
