Dear British Army,
This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act.
I am seeking to confirm that an individual named Sebastian or Sebestyén Gorka, born October 1970, served as a member of the Intelligence Corps in the British Territorial Army Reserves. He has stated that he belonged to the "22 Company."
Please let me know if you require any other information.
APC-Sp-ParlDiscl-iHub-SO3 (Forrest, Alistair Mr) would like to recall the message, "20170221-FOI_02430_Merlan-AG.doc".
Dear APC-Sp-ParlDiscl-iHub-SO3 (Forrest, Alistair Mr),
I'm looking at this request again, and the response is that the MoD can't confirm or deny it holds the records I'm requesting. Does the MoD not confirm military service?
Dear Ms Merlan
Thank you for your e-mail.
Under the Data Protection Act 1998, personal data which relates to an
individual can only be released to the subject, or to a third party with
the subject’s signed written consent. I am therefore unable to confirm or
deny whether the person to which your query refers has an Army service
The MOD will confirm military service to those who have a right to know.
As you are a third party, you do not have that right.
I hope this clarifies the position.
