FOI request for grade boundaries

Siraj Mahmood made this Freedom of Information request to University of Cambridge

This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was refused by University of Cambridge.

Dear University of Cambridge,

I would like to request grade boundaries for English First Language - Syllabus 0522 for all examinations for ALL previous years within this specification. I would also like a copy of every past paper, insert and mark scheme for the above specification. I am asking for these as they are unavailable within your website.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Mahmood.

Dear University of Cambridge,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of University of Cambridge's handling of my FOI request 'FOI request for grade boundaries'.

20 days have now passed since my initial request, but I have received no reply. Under the Freedom of Information Act, you should have replied by now.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/f...

Yours faithfully,

Siraj Mahmood

Jenny Elliot,

Dear Siraj

Please refer to the Freedom of Information Act 2000 Section 10.

You will see that it specifies 20 working days and not calendar days. This
refers to UK working days.

Whilst we endeavour to answer queries as quickly as possible we are not
always able to do this.  You will receive a response on or before the
deadline, which in your case is 2 June.

Dear Jenny Elliot,

Instead of ordering me to refer to the Freedom of Information Act 2000 Section 10, you could have had a better use of your time, by informing me of what I have requested.

I appreciate that you may be busy, however I think that the time wasted telling me to refer to the Freedom of Information Act 2000 Section 10, could have been better used by telling me the information I requested.

Instead of now replying, with a sarcastic or rude response, implying that I must wait, please reply with the above requested information.

Yours sincerely,

Siraj Mahmood

Jenny Elliot,

Dear Siraj

Please find attached the requested information.

Should you need anything further in the future it may be helpful to you to
know that our resources are set up to deal with queries using the
procedure below and, therefore, where you use it your questions are likely
to be processed much faster.

1.       Contact your centre to ask for the information (In any event we
are entitled to refuse requests if you come to us where the information is
reasonably accessible to you by other means) Private candidates should
contact the examinations officer at the centre at which they sat/will sit
their exams.

2.       Ask the centre to refer any questions you have which they cannot
answer to our customer services team who are always very happy to help –
although your centre should have access to all the information I have
provided to you today.

Please note that the 2014 grade thresholds are shortly to appear on our
public website ([1]www.cie.org.uk). You will be able to find grade
thresholds for most of our exams, including 0522, from June 2014 onwards.
They have therefore not been provided here. These will start to appear in
batches from June 2015, you can also get them from your centre. We hope
they will be a useful tool for our candidates.

I hope the information provided is helpful to you and wish you a good day.

Regards

Jenny Elliot
