FOI Publication log

Martyn Dewar made this Freedom of Information request to Independent Case Examiner

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Independent Case Examiner,

REQUEST UNDER THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000

I note with interest that your website [1], like many other Government organisations who use the gov.uk platform, provides some guidance on use of a FOI Publication log, namely:

"Check our previous releases to see if we’ve already answered your question."

When clicking on the link to said previous releases (e.g. the publication log) [2], the browser is met with a message suggesting there is zero publications. Naturally, this seems to be incorrect, given that your office has responded to many Freedom of Information requests, including a substantive number on the What Do They Know website.

Could you therefore please disclose the following:

- RFI1: Please provide a copy of your Publication Scheme

- RFI2: Please provide a copy of any internal guidance regarding the handling of Freedom of Information requests, including, but not limited to any guidance your office utilises when deciding whether or not to publish a request on the Publication log

- RFI3: Please provide a listing of the number of FoI requests that your office has received - ideally this would include the request number, date, subject of the request and whether or not a response was provided (e.g. full disclosure, partial, refused). Naturally, I would not wish you to disclose the identity of any person who made the requests.

I can appreciate RFI3 may seem voluminous, however, it is in essence a request for a Management Information report which presumably should be readily available to your FoI officers to allow their work to be completed. Ideally, this should go back as far as readily available.

I trust that this request is clear and you will be able to respond within the requisite twenty working day period, however, should you require any clarity, please do contact me as soon as practical.

Thank you in advance.

Yours faithfully,

Martyn Dewar
