Dear Mr / Ms Cummings
Thank you for your request for information received on 2 August 2018.
This request is being handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Please find below our response to the information you requested, which
was:
Dear Lambeth Borough Council,
Following the letter sent by the Department for Communities and Local
Government regarding the safety of Large Panel System (LPS) buildings, can
you provide details of the last time you carried out a structural survey
of LPS blocks, what the survey found, and whether any action was taken as
a result.

Can you also provide a list of the names of LPS blocks the organisation
owns, and which LPS blocks have been demolished while under your
organisation's control.
Our Response
A structural survey was carried out in March 2004, which noted that in
common with TWA and other system built blocks, Camsey, Farnfield and Byrne
Houses may have been susceptible to progressive collapse but strengthening
work was carried out, approximately 12 years ago. Design details of the
work are not held. However, a visual inspection of the steel angles and
bolts used to connect the load bearing walls and floors together,
indicates that the tying appears to comply with current requirements
assuming there is no gas supply to the blocks. This requires "key"
elements to resist an equivalent static pressure (esp) of 17kN/sq.m.
Further structural strengthening on any of the TWA blocks on the St
Matthews Estate is not therefore considered necessary.
The internal domestic gas supply has been removed .
Lambeth Council owns and manages the following LPS blocks: Rainsford
House, Farnfield House, Camsey House, Byrne House on Brixton Hill/St
Matthews Road. No LPS blocks have been demolished whilst under the
council's control.
